It's a....

We finally know what our baby is. And much to our surprise, it's a Girl! We were/are in shock still, but we are definitely excited! We are so shocked because the Wanlass history pretty much had me convinced that it was a boy. (Riley has all brothers and all of his brothers have all boys). I didn't care what we were having, but I secretly wanted to have a little girl.

The night before we went to get our ultrasound Riley told me that we are having a Girl. And then that night I had a dream that it was a little Girl. When we got to the ultrasound office, I was so excited. I laid down and the lady pulled up the screen with our baby. I had a hard time knowing what exactly what I was looking at, but Riley seemed to pick up on it a little better. After some time, Riley started saying I can't see anything there. (I still didn't know what I was looking at). After Riley stated that he couldn't see anything a couple times the ultrasound lady finally told is that it definitely was a girl. We both couldn't believe it. I made her keep checking - ha ha.

Our little Girl - who we've decided to name Hazyn Jane (pronounced Haze - en) - is an active little thing. She was going crazy kicking me. I hope she doesn't continue to kick that hard when she is bigger - it might hurt. But for right now I love feeling her little kicks. It is very exciting!!

For journaling purposes here are some fun things about my pregnancy so far..

  • I haven't been sick at all and I feel so grateful. I know there are lots of people that get really sick so I'm glad I'm not one of them. (I think Riley is the most grateful because I'm not a very good sick person)

  • The only time I get too emotional is when I think about my horse Ross. He isn't doing very good right now and it kills me every time I think about it. (In fact I shouldn't have brought it up because I'm crying again) Riley has banned me from the farm because it gets me too upset to see Ross be in pain.

  • My students are really excited for me to have a baby - it's all they want to talk about (because they would like to get out of doing their math). They sometimes say funny things. One of my students told me that I didn't look fat, I just looked pregnant. I chose to take that as a compliment - ha ha!

  • I still fit in my clothes (with a rubber band to help me button my pants). I am dreading buying maternity clothes and I don't know why.

  • My family is so excited for little Hazyn. Someone from my family calls me everyday asking about the baby. Now that we know its a girl my mom has been going crazy buying stuff. Callie has been busy making plans for a baby shower and all the cute stuff she wants to make.

  • I think Riley's family is still in shock that we are having a girl. They are pretty excited too. Julie can't wait to buy a doll:)

  • I've only gained 2 pounds. I know that will probably change, but for now I'm pretty proud of that. Especially with how hungry I've been the past couple weeks.

  • I can't wait to see Riley with his little girl. He is so excited. He always tells me that Hazyn is going to be a daddy's girl and that I don't stand a chance. I know that he is probably right too (even though she'll be a mommy's girl too).

To sum it all up, we are so so so excited to be having our baby girl Hazyn. We both feel very blessed! Now if May will just hurry up and get here:)

It's About Time...

We are so excited to announce that we are having a baby. And Can I just say that is it about time! I've always wanted to be a mom and when Riley and I got engaged, we made a plan of when we were going to start having kids. Well, Heavenly Father had a different plan in mind because it took us over a year and a half to finally get pregnant. Even though this is my journal, I'll spare the details. I'll just say that going through infertility is humiliating, depressing, and the biggest roller coaster of emotions. After lots of frustration, I finally decided to switch doctors. Dr. Olsen was a huge answer to our prayers because he finally found out what was wrong, put me on clomid, and a month later we were pregnant.

We had our first ultrasound today and got to see our little "peanut" as Riley called it. It was neat to see it's little heart beating. I'm 9 weeks and due May 15. I'm so grateful that Heavenly Father answered our prayers and has blessed us with the opportunity to be parents. We can't wait!!

A New Sister (In-Law)

On 9/10/11, Riley's Brother Daniel got married. We are so happy for him and his new Bride (my new sis-in-law) Sierra. Rain threatened to ruin the day, but the heavens opened up and Daniel and Sierra's day ended beautifully. Enjoy the pics from the day!!

Project Update

Well I'm totally lame because I finished this a while ago, but I haven't blogged about it. So here is the finished Night Stand Project.

Project Sneak Peak

Here is a Sneak Peak at the project I've been working on. It doesn't look like much here, but I'm almost done with this night stand and it already looks awesome. Pics of the finished product to come. . . .

Our Dresser

Riley was looking on KSL one day for a dresser because we needed one desperately (I had already given up on the search because I couldn't find what I wanted). Well, Riley found this beauty. It really probably didn't need to be refinished, but we wanted it to be black. Riley helped sand it and I did the rest. I painted it with Milk Paint (my favorite) then distressed it a bit. After I distressed it, I stained it. Then lastly, I coated it with Polyacylic to protect it. Before

After!!

Catch Up

Here is what we've been up to this summer. As always, Summer tends to be our busiest time. We work hard and play hard. Here are the pics to prove it!! (They are way out of order but oh well!)

Riley has been roping A LOT!! Here is Riley and Jake (my little bro) getting ready to rope in the Marysvale 24th of July Rodeo.
Riley and his horse Kidd in action!!
We went to the midnight premiere of Harry Potter!! A little geeky I know:)
We went to Downada Hot Springs water park on the 4th of July with our friends Dustin and Melissa. We had a blast!!
Harry Potter with Dustin and Melissa
Riley attempted to eat a 36 inch pizza. If him and Cory would have accomplished it they would have free pizza for a year.
Before they started!!
Our Garden is growing like crazy.
Riley is holding a large pizza box next to the 36 inch pizza box.Riley built these corrals for our horses - all 4 of them!
Our baby Steele (we finally named him) is growing up. He is already a good little horse - I can't wait to ride him.

We are keeping our horses at the "farm" (as Riley calls it). The dogs also get to stay at the farm and they absolutely love it. (I do to because I don't have to clean up after them)

Jaci loves to scare up the pheasants living at the farm!!
We are keeping our horses at the farm for free, so in exchange Riley is doing some work for the owner. He got to rent a back hoe and was in heaven while he got to use it. (Did I mention that the farm is only a block from our house - its the perfect set up - we lucked out!!)
The dogs got a new kennel that is nice, roomy, and shaded!
We have enjoyed all the awesome fireworks this year!! So far it has been a great summer and we will be sad when it is over.

It's time to go Private

I've actually been thinking about going Private for a while; especially recently. So I've decided to copy my Sis-in-Law and finally take the plunge. There have been some things that I've wanted to blog about and get off my chest but haven't been able to do so for fear of the wrong eyes reading it. I know its going to be a pain to go Private, (truthfully I may go back to the way it is now if this proves to be too big of a hassle) so this may be a trial run.

If you would like to be invited to my blog please leave your email address in the comment box.

P.S. I enjoy "blog stalking" friends and acquaintances, so even if we aren't the best of friends, but you enjoy looking at my blog, feel free to leave your email.

Random Thoughts

Who says that every post has to have pictures. This blog has slowly turned into my journal, so I should start treating it like my journal. We haven't had much going on lately, but it seems like time has been flying by. Where did February go? (Not that I'm complaining - Bring on Spring) Anyways, here are some random things that I've been thinking or that have been going on around the Wanlass household.

  • I love having a clean house but I hate cleaning!! As of right now my house is pretty clean but it has taken me more than a week to get that way. Spring cleaning is almost done. Yay!!
  • I can't wait to start planting my garden. I've started an indoor tomato garden and it is looking awesome (maybe I'll get pictures one day) Now I just need to wait until I can transport it outside!!
  • I love love love my job (except for the massive amounts of grading). I never knew that working from home could be so amazing.
  • I thought that I would take a nice long break from going to school, but I've already got the itch to go back and get my Masters. I've started looking into my options and think (if all goes as planned) that I will start this summer. Yes I'm crazy but it will be nice to have my masters done by the end of summer 2012.
  • Riley's school is going really good. It's Spring Break right now and the break has been nice.
  • I need to lose weight - really bad - as in 40 pounds bad. It's to the point that I look like crap and I feel like crap. Because of this, Riley bought me a treadmill today and is putting it together as I'm typing this post. (Maybe by saying that out loud I'll actually do it)
  • Our 2 year anniversary is on the 14th. Where did the time go? It seems like we got married yesterday, but that we've been married for forever. (Does that make sense - ha ha). I'm so lucky that Riley picked me - he's amazing and has made the last 2 years the best ever.
  • Our dogs are funny little things. We lost Jaci temporarily and it devastated us. Fortunately we found her and all is good. We think that Tuff has Down Syndrome - Seriously (Is that even possible). He's a little crazy but we like him anyways.
  • Why doesn't anyone come visit us? (Except for Riley's parents and brother Daniel) I know we live forever away from everyone, but we have a spare bedroom. Doesn't that mean that people should come try it out?
  • I could go on and on, but I'll save some of my other thoughts for another day.
That was really therapeutic, so I think I'll be doing this more often!! Feel free to ignore these posts because they are for journaling purposes only.

New Addition to The Wanlass Family!!

So Riley and I made a deal a long time ago that if he could buy a Fancy Team Roping Saddle (which he bought this summer) then I could buy a Fancy Horse. Well today we bought the fanciest little colt ever made. Because of his breeding he has the potential to become the Lebron James of the performance horse world. I'm so excited that I can barely stand it. So this is "Mister Dixie" the new addition to our family of now 3 horses, 2 dogs, Riley and Me!! Our family keeps growing!!

Catching Up!!

I haven't blogged for a while, so here is my Catch up!! We have been doing lots of projects lately. I needed a desk for the new sewing machine I got for Christmas, so I found this beauty at DI for $15. Of course I couldn't leav her in the ugly state that I found her in, so with some help from Riley, we sanded it, painted it, distressed it, and then glazed it.
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. We also bought new handles for it (I found them on sale for really cheap:)
Riley wanted to build shelves for storage and a work bench in his garage, so he got right to work. Notice on the very bottom he built a little place for the dogs to sleep.
Riley hard at work.

Tuff always has a look a mischief!! He recently got a new toy - A bark Collar!! We didn't want the neighbors hating us anymore:)

The dogs love having their new backyard to play in.
Jaci is such a sweet Dog!! We should have stopped with her - Ha Ha!!
Even though it was around 2 degrees this day, Riley still has to get his practice time in.
Riley's new Christmas Present. He spends all of his free time with this dummy!!

I don't have a picture of it, but Riley got me a new camera for Christmas. He got me a Canon Rebel XS. I haven't figured out how to use it yet, but I love it!! I'm excited to learn how to take pictures with it!!

We had a great Christmas and New Years!! 2010 was great to us and we can't wait to see what 2011 brings us.
